Performing Arts College Consulting
Serving Performing Arts performance and production students in person and virtually,
in the Greater Rochester, NY area and beyond!
Having worked in Theatre for over 30 years as both an Educator and Artist, I started Sandy Nagar Studio as a way to share my knowledge and insights with young people who want to pursue a higher level of Theatre training be it for personal growth, or in pursuit of college and career aspirations
Maybe you’re just discovering Theatre and trying your hand at Acting for the first time.
Or perhaps you’re an experienced performer having regularly graced the stages of area high schools and youth theatre groups.
As your Acting Coach, I’ll help you deepen your understanding of the craft and process of acting, elevate and fine-tune your skills, and equip you with
the tools to build confidence in your abilities.
As your Theatre Arts College Consultant, I’ll help you find the college, training program, and degree type that is the best fit for you, your interests, and your educational and career goals.
ACTING COACHNG & CLASSES
"Living truthfully under imaginary circumstances..."
At SANDY NAGAR STUDIO, it's this philosophy that guides our approach to coaching young actors. How you attain a level of living truthfully under imaginary circumstances in your performance is pretty straight forward. It's all about process and discovery.
The process involves learning techniques, developing skills, and engaging in acting exercises that lead to discovery about yourself as an actor and as a person. These discoveries enable you to create a character that is truthful to their circumstances, connects with their environment and the other characters, and is open to the spontaneous, honest emotional reactions they may experience moment-to-moment on stage.

Have you ever wondered how actors do what they do? Have you ever gotten a role and wondered “where do I even begin?” Perhaps you’re an experienced performer, but want to take your acting to a deeper level? Then join SNS for this intensive class focusing on studying the craft of Acting. Explore the process of creating a character from the ground up. Discover your strengths as an actor and learn how to use them effectively. Identify your challenges and obstacles and learn how to face them head on and overcome them. Learn and work on skills and techniques designed around Acting concepts such as being a good scene partner, getting out of your head, and living truthfully under imaginary circumstances. This course will culminate in a showcase performance highlighting the work of the students during the session.

MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS: GRADES 6-8
Acting the SCENE
What happens between actors when they share the stage in a scene? How does your character have a meaningful interaction with another character? What motivates one character to engage with another character? Students will utilize acting games, exercises, and improvisations to explore a character within a scripted scene with a partner. In doing so, students will gain an introduction to creating an authentic and vibrant character that is living in the world of the play and reacting to the people and circumstances surrounding them. This 9-week class is the perfect opportunity for kids with any level of performing experience to have fun while exploring the art and craft of Acting on a deeper level. A showcase performance will be presented at the end of the session for students to share what they’ve learned with family and friends!
